HistoryApril, 1969Nara University opens it doors in Nara-shi, Hourai-cho. April, 1970The Faculty of Letters establishes the Teaching Staff credential course April, 1976The Faculty of Letters establishes the Museum Curator credential course April, 1979The Faculty of Letters establishes the Department of the Preservation of Cultural Properties April, 1980The Faculty of Letters establishes the Teaching Staff credential course in the February, 1988Nara University moves from the Hourai campus to its present campus at Nara-shi, Misasagi-cho April, 1988The Faculty of Sociology is established, with two departments: Sociology and Industrial Sociology April, 1993The Graduate School is established, offering three Master's degree majors: a Japanese Literature major and a Cultural Properties and Archival Science major, both in the Graduate Faculty of Letters; a Sociology major in the Graduate Faculty of Sociology. April, 1995The Graduate School establishes a post-Master's course in Cultural Properties and Archival Sciences. April, 1999The Faculty of Sociology is renamed the Faculty of Social Research. April, 2004Establishment of courses for librarian certification. April, 2005The Distance Education Division establishes the Department of Cultural Properties and Archival Science, and establishes the Museum Curator credential course in the same department. April, 2007The Faculty of Social Research is renamed the Faculty of Sociology. |
